Please read each scholarship description in its entirety, apply for only those which you are fully eligible. You may apply for more than one scholarship. Recipients meeting requirements are eligible to win both an EFC Foundation Scholarship and Corporate-Sponsored Scholarships.

The Affiliated Distributors, Electrical Industry Scholarship - $2,500

The Affiliated Distributors Electrical Industry Scholarship will be awarded to a family member of current employees of any customer of A-D’s Electrical Affiliates in Canada. The scholarship will be for a student in any post-secondary institution across Canada who has successfully completed at least the first year of any degree, diploma or electrical apprenticeship program. Priority will be given to students who have an electrical or electronics concentration. The successful student will have above-average marks in their current program and will have shown leadership in their school and community.

Bob Dyer / OEL, Apprenticeship Scholarships - $500 each (five available)

In memory of Bob Dyer, a long-time Board member, past Chair (1995) and Chapter member, the Ontario Electrical League (OEL) is offering five electrical apprenticeship scholarships valued at $500 each. The Scholarships will be awarded to an apprentice who have, within the last 12 months, completed any of the levels of schooling at an approved Ontario College Electrical Apprenticeship program, with at least a 75% average. They must also be an OEL member company employee or an immediate relative of an OEL member company employee (see www.oel.org for a complete list of member companies.)

Canlyte Empowering Success Award - $2,500

The Canlyte Empowering Success Award, valued at $2,500, will be granted to a college or university student who has completed at least one year of study in the electrical trade, general arts, engineering, IT or business disciplines. Applicants must be either a current employee or relative of someone currently employed within Canlyte’s distribution network, lighting specifiers and/or electrical contractors. Eaton Electrical Award of Academic Achievement - $2,500

The Eaton Award of Academic Achievement, valued at $2,500, is granted to a university or college student who has completed at least their second year of study with a minimum 80% average. In addition, the winning student will be given consideration for either a permanent or summer employment position with Eaton Electrical Sector, Canadian Operations.

The GE Canada Community Leadership Award, valued at $2,500, will be granted to an undergraduate university student in either an Engineering or Business program who has completed at least their first year of study with a minimum cumulative average of 80% and has also established a commitment to community service through volunteerism.

The OSRAM SYLVANIA Scholastic Achievement Award, valued at $2,500, is granted to a university student who has completed at least the second year of study with a minimum cumulative average for 85%. Eligible fields of study include electrical and mechanical engineering and business administration.

R.A.B.C. Future Leader in Telecommunications Award - $3,500

The Future Leader in Telecommunications Award will be granted to an engineering student who has completed at least their second year in an accredited Canadian University and plans on pursuing a career in telecommunications. The winner will demonstrate both academic excellence and a continuing contribution to their community at large.

The Radio Advisory Board of Canada is an “association of associations” which represents most sectors of the radio-communication business in Canada including manufacturers, wireless carriers and service providers, network operators, broadcasters, public safety and national security radio network operators, and users. The Board also provides the Government of Canada with broadly based, unbiased and expert technical advice regarding the management and use of the radio frequency spectrum in Canada. The Research In Motion Technology Scholarships – (2) $2,500

There are two Research In Motion Technology Scholarships, both valued at $2,500. Each scholarship will be awarded to an individual who has completed their second year of study at a Canadian university or college and have a minimum cumulative average of 80%. The student must be enrolled in either an engineering or computer science program. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated passion for technology and be actively involved with their community.

S&C Electric John R. Conrad Award of Excellence - $2,500

The S&C Electric John R. Conrad Award of Excellence, valued at $2,500, is granted to a University of Waterloo student participating in the Electrical Engineering program. Eligible students must have completed at least their second year of study with at least a 75% average. The winning student will be considered for a co-op or summer student placement within the company.

S&C Electric Company is a global provider of equipment and services for electric power systems. Brews Supply Ltd. Electrical Engineering Technology Award: $2,500

This scholarship is granted to a Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (S.A.I.T.) or Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (N.A.I.T.) student who has completed their first year of study in the Electrical Engineering Technology program. Eligible students must be interested in pursuing a career in the design, manufacturing, marketing or distribution of electrical products. Motivation, rather than high marks, will be the prime criteria for selection. The winning student will be offered the opportunity to interview for a permanent or temporary position with Brews Supply Ltd. at the completion of their studies. The applicant may wish (but is not required) to demonstrate their interest through the submission of supportive materials. Check Website for further details.

CEMRA Academic Leadership Award - $2,500

The CEMRA (Canadian Electrical Manufacturers' Representatives Association) Academic Leadership Award, valued at $2,500, will be granted to a college or university student who has completed at least their first year of study, with a minimum cumulative average of 75%. The scholarship will be awarded to a family member of, or a student with direct connections to a CEMRA member or CEMRA member business partner. Eligible fields of study include electrical or electronic engineering or technology, or business administration. The award will be given to the applicant demonstrating academic excellence, and community involvement.

CEMRA is a trade association of independent sales representatives in the electrical industry, located in every region of Canada. The 45 members of the association strive for excellence in the sales and marketing of electrical, electronic and telecommunication products. The Schneider Electric Student Merit Award, valued at $2,500, is granted to a university, college or apprenticeship student. Eligible students must have completed at least their first year of study in engineering, business administration or an electrical apprenticeship program, and maintained a minimum cumulative average of 75%.
